Taylor Guitar Giveaway Winner #1:

As you folks know we gave away a Taylor Guitar both days of the 2017 NY Guitar Show. We could not have done this without the fantastic support of Taylor Guitars and main man David Kaye. We thank them with the deepest sincerity for helping to make the NY Guitar the guitar show now in the northeast! Our first winner is Rob Rubin:
Ron grew up on Long Island and has been playing guitar since the age of 12. Having been in many working club bands dating back to the 1970s, including the Bonnie Parker band and the Yardley's Ron still plays with rock cover bands today. Also a songwriter Ron released his first EP last year entitled "Unlocked" and produced by his son Sean, who also is a working musician. Ron says, “Thanks so much for the wonderful Taylor Academy guitar. I absolutely love it! The guitar is really comfortable and has a thin neck with close action. Love the built in tuner and built in pickup. Nice warm rich full bodied sound. Stays in tune, and is lightweight.”Ron currently own a Taylor GS mini which is also very easy to play. Since it is smaller, the tone is a bit brasher with more mids and high range tones. Prior to this Taylor, that was by far my favorite acoustic. Ron also added “I attend the guitar expo every year. Each year the event gets bigger with more interesting vendors. I never leave empty-handed. I enjoy talking to all the guitar makers and learning about new products. I particularly love all the vintage guitars as well. My only complaint would be that it's not twice a year! Again, I wish to thank Rich Johnson the guys at The NY music emporium and of course Taylor guitars for making this year the best year ever at the Guitar Expo!”

Homestead Pedal Winner #2
As you folks know, our Amp Room sponsor Homestead Amps gave us four (4) pedals to give away after the show based on our survey questionnaires. The second of our four
winners was Brian Boker of of Ronkonkoma, NY. Brian's favorite shop is Murphy's Music in Melville, so he took the ride there to pose with owner Jeff Frohman seen right. Brian is a jazz player and won the "Undertaker" pedal. The Undertaker is a germanium boost pedal, fashioned after a 1960s Dallas Arbiter Rangemaker, used by everyone from Brian May to Rory Gallagher. They've added a tone selection feature and high output transistor for extended sustain. Congrats to Brian and the folks at Murphy's Music and thanks of course to Homestead Amps.

Homestead Pedal Winner #1 Announced
As you folks are aware, our Amp Room Sponsor Homestead Amps gave us four (4) pedals to give away after the show based on our survey questionnaires. The first of our four winners is Terry Mortell of Huntington, Long Island. Terry’s only been playing guitar for a couple years - decided to check it off his bucket list. Into classic rock, Skynyrd, Steve Miller, Boston, Dire Straights, Led Zeppelin. Terry won the Homestead’s “Preacher” pedal. The Preacher is Homestead’s take on the original Germanium Fuzz Face. Three decades after hitting the market, this circuit is still a staple on most artists’ boards. We put out innovative products with old school technology - the old school way. Congrats to Terry and thanks to Homestead!

Les Paul Exhibit Back At NY Guitar Show

The Les Paul Exhibit is back in the show this year and by popular request. Folks attending the show in 2015 had a ball actually plugging in and playing Les’ own personal guitars, amps and gizmos/gadgets and had the privilege of jamming with the incomparable Lou Pallo, the man of a million chords.
The Les Paul Program curated by Jim Wysocki, longtime friend of Les Paul’s, will have several guitars & inventions from Les Paul’s actual collection. Photographs with the guitars will be allowed as well as being able to plug them in and play. The exhibit will also have one of the first reel to reel tape machines from Les Paul's 8 track machines!
There will be a large display of inventions and gadgets which helped launch the new sound of the 40's and 50's. The first sound on sound disks will be on hand to view. So much history to touch and see, which is well worth the visit to the show.    New for this year’s show will be Les Paul's Railroad Track experiment. In 1928 Les had the idea of amplifying his guitar; however he needed a dense material. He attempted to fill an acoustic guitar with rags, etc. with no success. He realized the densest material was right in his front yard. The Rail yard!! With two friends he “borrowed" a 2 foot piece of rail and suspended a string across the rail. Using the ear piece from his telephone and his mother’s radio he was able to produce a sound with sustain and no feedback.   Also on display this year will be one of the very first Les Paul guitars ever produced. The first year’s Les Paul had some issues, but with a little work they turned the tables on the world with the Gibson Les Paul Electric guitar.
Jim Wysocki will be demonstrating all the ideas Les had and how he implemented these ideas into actual working objects, such as recording disks which Les multi- tracked with during the 30"s and 40"s.  Some lucky person will walk away with a small keepsake from Les Paul's collection. So come on over to booths 103-104 at the NY Guitar Expo and see the history, hear the stories of the Guitar Legend himself "Les Paul." See it all at www.nyguitarexpo.com.

Same Great Venue For 2017!!
With the sudden growth spurt we experienced from just our "core" exhibitors that took a chance with us for our first show and I sincerely thank them for that, we've been forced to move to larger quarters. We've doubled the square footage for 2013 by moving to the Freeport Recreation Center located at 130 E. Merrick Rd. in in Freeport, Long Island.

The Freeport Rec Center has hosted numerous expos in the fishing industry and I've personally held Fishing Seminars here drawing in excess of 600 people and it has plenty of room. The gymnasium is 117 x 77 with some areas 84 foot wide. We're able to ad another double row of booths in the center of the room and now have expended to 71 booths of space.

The Freeport Rec Center holds all the attributes you look for in a venue, with hotels under 5 minutes away and the Nautical Mile (Woodcleft Ave.) also 2 minutes away. The "Nautical Mile" as it's called is an actual mile of restaurants and bars on the water in Freeport. The Rec Center has an open snack bar with everything from burgers and fries to dogs and otehr munchies. However there is no beer, alcohol or smoking permitted onthe premises.

The Freeport Rec Center is located off major highways and parkways being under 2 minutes from the Meadowbrook Parkway (Exit M9) and sits on Merrick Rd with Sunrise Highway a block or two to the north. Again this location is just a 6 minute walk from major mass transportation on the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) with Nassau County bus service as well.
